SNC is dedicated to the exploration and nurturing of the human brain, in order to develop to its fullest potential, towards the evolution of a fully creative society.
For life to be based on a foundation of truth, we consider holistic education to be that which not only enables the linking of all aspects of life (sustainability, holistic wellness, yoga, meditation, math, science, social-science, history, philosophy, music, arts, writing, communication etc), but also most importantly the means towards grasping a deeper understanding of all its reality.
We are a multigenerational community of 35-40 people, coming from various rural places throughout not only Uttarakhand, but also Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and abroad. Our intentional community thrives on the mission of fostering future generations of mindful, sensitive and creative individuals, able to live harmoniously and self-sustainably in collaboration with each other, as well as with nature.
We are meditators, learners, social workers, researchers, educators, artists, writers, farmers. We bring to to the table a wide spectrum of expertise (going beyond traditional academics) towards our Alternative Curriculum Development. Our expertise range from organic farming, composting and food processing, to sewing, embroidery, and knitting, from classical kathak dance to yoga, from Hindustani classical vocal and instrumental sangeet to global electronic music production, from drawing, painting and sculpture to digital photography, from creative writing, poetry, and song composition to story telling and drama, from puppetry and street theater to community radio, from leading marches and rallies to content creation for social justice, environmental activism and social-change.
The current state of any society is a direct reflection of its educational system. In order to substantially transform a society, first its system of education must evolve.
Using our own residential learning center (experiment) as an evolving model, we are creating the evolution of new holistically collaborative, peaceful and harmonious society.
We believe a new education system needs to replace what has led us to the state of the world in which we are today. So we began to experiment and develop our own education philosophy.
Covering theories regarding classroom management, teaching methodologies, learning strategies, learner evaluation, our educational philosophy guides (both teachers and parents) how to best foster the sensitivity, creativity, curiosity, and exploration in a child.
Education should enable learners to not only make discoveries on their own, but also to develop the important life skills such as teamwork, collaboration and harmonious living through fostering positive relationships with themselves, with others as well as with nature.
We understand in order to create a peaceful and collaborative society, without competition much less conflict, we must learn to see each other as an inter-connected part of the whole collective of humanity. As such our rural based programs focus on three major interweaving themes: Real Holistic Education, Harmonious Mindful Collaborative Living, and Empowerment to Make Positive Impacts on Society through Self-Sustainable Development.
We are based out of our center, Space for Nurturing Creativity, in a small Garhwali village in Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand, nearly 50km from Kedarnath. However our activities are mostly locally based, focused on supporting our surrounding communities, people also come from all over the country to participate in our various educational activities and youth camps.

The entire Garhwal Himalayan area, called “Kedarkhand” in Skanda Purana, is deeply steeped in spiritual history. Most of the treks are ancient pilgrimage routes to important temples and places Rishis did their sadhana. The nature filled atmosphere is ripe for meditation, contemplation and thus suitable for facilitating holistic education in the pursuit of truth. When you visit one of our spaces, you can’t help but notice the energy is different, you can feel the positive vibration we have cultivated in our time spent there. Each of our spaces offer their own unique style of accommodations, expansive vistas, and varying levels of remote-ness or conveniences.
